Date Night, 2021 Style

Updated: May 6, 2021

Spring is here, the evenings are getting lighter and if you are anything like us, you’re starting to venture out into your garden again.

For us, that means trading a movie on the sofa with a takeaway (or if we’re feeling really romantic a picnic blanket on the floor with a few cushions and ‘picky-bits’), for the chimenea or (fire pit), a couple of camping chairs and blankets.

This also means the food changes, let’s face it, it’s kind of difficult to eat a curry, rice, naan and onion bhajis whilst balancing it all on your lap. Which is why we would recommend a pizza. I know its not the most elegant of date night treats, but its practical, easy to balance on your lap with a blanket over your legs and god it tastes good!

For those of you who live in Solihull, we thoroughly recommend checking out the DIY Pizza Company. You can even use discount code ‘DARKSIDE’ for 20% off your pizza order.

Now of course the big question is your drink of choice… It’s date night so it’s got to be a little bit more special than the standard Friday night tiple, it’s also got to be able to cut through the rich mouth-watering taste of pizza to refresh the palate. The answer is obviously cider, I mean The Stable Pizza and Cider House built an entire chain of restaurants (nine and growing) based on this match made in heaven. So, a few bottles of Darkside Original, with its refreshing and sophisticated taste, smooth body, subtle sweetness, and you’ve got yourself the perfect date night.

P.S. make sure you’ve got some nice dry wood for the chiminea. The night won’t be half as enjoyable if you forget your wood.
